Prepared by the Lamb

And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, “Where will you have us go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?” And he sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him, and wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ And he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us.” And the disciples set out and went to the city and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

Prepared by the Lamb
The Passover is fast approaching, and Jesus sends His disciples to prepare the Passover meal, a crucial moment that sets the stage for the Last Supper. The disciples follow Jesus’ instructions precisely, finding everything just as He had said, revealing once again Jesus’ divine knowledge and preparation. As Christians, we see in this account the prelude to the institution of the Lord’s Supper. Jesus, the Lamb of God, meticulously prepares for the sacrament that would offer His true body and true blood for the forgiveness of sins. This preparation is not just for the disciples then but for us now. Each time we partake in Holy Communion, we are reminded of Christ’s perfect sacrifice and provision for our salvation. Reflect on the detailed care Jesus takes in preparing this sacred meal. Trust that He knows and prepares for your needs with the same divine love and precision. Rejoice in the gift of His body and blood, given and shed for you.
