Called by Grace

5 For every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness. 3 Because of this he is obligated to offer sacrifice for his own sins just as he does for those of the people. 4 And no one takes this honor for himself, but only when called by God, just as Aaron was.
Heb 5:1-4

Called by Grace
No one takes the honor of serving as high priest upon himself—it is a calling from God. The high priests of Israel were weak and flawed, yet they stood before God on behalf of the people, offering sacrifices for sins, including their own. These sacrifices pointed to the ultimate High Priest, Jesus Christ, who would make the perfect offering for sin once and for all. Jesus did not exalt Himself but was appointed by God to bear our sins. Unlike the earthly priests, He is sinless and His sacrifice is eternal. On the cross, He bore the weakness and sin of all humanity, securing redemption for those who trust in Him. In Christ, God calls each of us to live in His grace. We approach Him not through our worthiness, but through the perfect mediation of our crucified and risen High Priest. In Him, we are made whole.
