Generosity Rooted in Christ

16 Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. 2 On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come. 3 And when I arrive, I will send those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to Jerusalem. 4 If it seems advisable that I should go also, they will accompany me.

Generosity Rooted in Christ
These words from St. Paul guide us in the discipline of giving, not as a duty but as a joyful response to God’s grace. Paul encourages the Corinthians to set aside a portion of their income regularly, emphasizing consistency and intentionality in their support for fellow believers. This practice of giving flows from the cross of Christ, where the ultimate gift was made for us. Jesus’ sacrifice wasn't given out of obligation but out of boundless love and mercy. Just as He gave His life to redeem us from sin, our offerings are a response to His overwhelming generosity. We don't give to earn favor with God but because His grace compels us to reflect His love to others. In Christ, our giving becomes an act of worship, rooted in faith and gratitude, a living testimony of the cross’s impact in our lives.
