One Body Many Members

12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

One Body Many Members
The Christian life is not an individual endeavor. We want to be successful on our own. We want to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps and be admired for our success, but our sinful nature only fails us. Our demise is great and our situation is grim. The Lord Jesus grafts you into the body that is the Church. He makes you part of the one body and assigns to you a work. We were all baptized by the Holy Spirit into this one Body and we were made to drink of the one Spirit. The victory of Jesus' cross is our victory. Our sin is defeated and the devil is destroyed. His reign is over. The victory is Jesus'. God be praised that he has grafted you in and made you one with Jesus and with the rest of the church.
