Proclaiming the Lord’s Death Until He Comes

23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

Proclaiming the Lord’s Death Until He Comes
In these words, we are reminded of the sacred gift of the Lord’s Supper. This meal is more than a symbol—it is the true body and blood of Christ, given and shed for the forgiveness of our sins. As we partake of this sacrament, we proclaim the Lord’s death, the very heart of our faith. Here, the theology of the cross comes into focus. Christ’s suffering and death become present to us in the bread and wine, not as a mere memory, but as a living promise. As we receive His body and blood, we are assured of the forgiveness of sins and strengthened in faith, eagerly awaiting His return. Until He comes, we proclaim His death, confident in His resurrection.
