The Rock is Jesus

10 For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 and all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

The Rock is Jesus
There is continuity with our God. We are not a separate people from the Old Testament nation of Israel. The church is this chosen people. The God that comes down to rescue and to make new is the same God that comes down in Word and Sacrament to save you from sin and death. This is Jesus, the God that is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He promises to care for you and give you all you need to support this body and life. He takes care of your food and your clothing, but this is the God that has Baptized you. This is the God that preaches Absolution into your ears. This the God that puts his Body and Blood on your lips for the forgiveness of your sins. This is your victorious God that follows you and rescues and makes new.
