From a Distance

There were also women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. When he was in Galilee, they followed him and ministered to him, and there were also many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.
Mark 15:40–41

From a Distance
Though the disciples fled, the women did not. These are the ones that supported him in his ministry. These were the women that worked behind the scenes while he taught and prayed and healed the sick. They contributed to the work of the Gospel. God calls us to do the same. He calls us to offer our first fruits for the work of proclamation of the absolution of Jesus' cross. The whole church was involved in this Jesus' ministry and work. It was not just the men he picked to be apostles. So also he washes women and children in his blood and with his promise. He gathers the poor and the rich. He binds together people of all sexes and nationalities. It is the blood that Jesus shed at the cross that binds them together and makes them whole. He is our head and foundation. Thanks be to God.
