Steadfast in Prayer
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison—that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.

Steadfast in Prayer
We live in a hectic and fast-paced society. It’s often hard to keep pace, and the thought of slowing down seems impossible, lest we get left behind. Peace always seems to be just out of reach. And the truth is that if we are seeking peace through the things of this world, it will be fleeting at best. But the Word of God establishes true peace in the hearts of all believers and moves us to live at peace with one another. Connected to the Word and coming from God’s promise, we have another aspect of our lives that brings peace. Prayer. In the Word of God, that is, the Gospel, the hand of God reaches down to us sinful people. And in prayer, the hand of man, encouraged and empowered by the Word, reaches upward to God. Prayer is the heartbeat of the life of faith. And God urges, even commands us, to live a life of steadfast prayer without ceasing. And in doing so, we are made conscious of the blessings we have received from the Lord and can return thanks for them. May we continuously be in prayer and thankful for all we have received and ever watchful for the open door through which to share His Word with others.
