Obey
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
Col 3:20–21

Obey
Obedience is not natural. It must be taught, and at times, it has to be insisted upon through discipline and correction. God has placed this responsibility in the hands of parents. And commanded children to listen and obey, not just when the order is easy or fun to follow but even in difficult and tedious times as well. For when parents are not aloof of their children’s actions, nor harsh taskmasters, and when children obey not grudgingly or with grumbling spirits but willing spirits, God has promised quiet, peaceful, and happy homes. The greatest care the parents can give is to see to their children’s spiritual needs. They are to provide at all times an example that will make God’s Word live for their children. Christ is to be at the center of all their instruction and training, for when children have this right relationship with their parents they come to know that they are not just obeying their parents but also the Lord. And lest we forget, we are all children of our heavenly Father and should fear, love, and trust in Him above all things so that it may go well with us.
