One Flesh

In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."
Ephesians 5:28–31

One Flesh
God does not make them the same. He makes man and woman to compliment and to help each other. He does not make men the same as women. He makes them to complete each other. The man leaves his mother and father and he is united to his wife and the two are no longer two, but one. This is a union of divine import. Man cannot do that. Marriage is not a thing of the state, it is a divine, God given institution. The state only grabs on to its coat tails to excise what it can. When empires fall, marriage always remains. Just as Christ joins us all to himself and to each other by his blood. These are works of God among us, miracles of our modern day. Christ holds fast to you, his Church, his Bride, his One Flesh. He made you that by his suffering and death and by his glorious resurrection. Thanks be to God.
