The Summary of the Law is Love
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

The Summary of the Law is Love
The whole of the Law can be divided into two tables. One shows us our life with God, and the other shows us our life with our neighbor. But when you put them together, you see that the whole thing is summarized in one word: love. Loving the Lord your God with all your heart is tough work. Loving your neighbor as yourself is no easy task. The human heart wants to have other gods that fit the fancy of our pleasures, and it wants to exalt itself above everyone else. That isn't the way of our God, though. He is a jealous God, and he wants us to deny ourselves and serve our neighbor. So he must transform us from the belly-worshiping traitors that we are into his own holy children. He does so by the blood of his Son. God takes on your flesh and blood, keeps the Law you failed at, and suffers the punishment you deserve...why? So that he can pull out that heart of flesh and replace it with a temple for the Holy Spirit. So that he could plant faith in you and life for you, he does all this to wrap you with his righteousness and claim you as his own. He does this because he loves you. The summary of Jesus is love: love for his Father and love for you that knows no end.
