God’s Hands

You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?
Romans 9:19-21

God’s Hands

If you have ever created anything with your hands that you are proud of you know the time and effort, you put into it. You know how difficult it was all the hours spent working and reworking until it was just right. Then the first time you step back after it is done there is a huge sense of relief and joy. You created! Now imagine your creation saying I don’t like how you made me, why can’t you do it different or better? What a devastating remark. But this is just what we do when we question the good and gracious will of God. And Paul calls us out on it here. We are the creation, not the Creator. We have but one job, to pray, praise, and give thanks to our Creator for all He has done. And what an amazing and humbling thought. The Creator of the universe, who made everything, also made you. Each cell, each strand of hair, all of you He personally crafted in His hands. What an intimate picture of love our Father gives us. And then to top it off, He sends His Son into creation to live, die, and rise for us, so that the broken relationship we caused with our Creator could be restored. So, now we rest secure in His hands.
