Imitators of God

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Eph 5:1–2

Imitators of God
What does it mean to be an imitator of God? Our sinful nature tells us that it is to be all-powerful and mighty. We need to be the ones in charge and the ones to give the orders. We have to be number one. But the truth is that the chief way to imitate God is to forgive and to love in a sacrificial way. These actions flow from being re-created in God’s image. So we love our neighbor as Christ loved us. And we can do this because of the cross, because of what Christ first did for us. The cross and the empty tomb make forgiveness possible.
