Travel Plans

This is the reason why I have so often been hindered from coming to you. But now, since I no longer have any room for work in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to come to you, I hope to see you in passing as I go to Spain, and to be helped on my journey there by you, once I have enjoyed your company for a while.

Travel Plans
Planning a trip can often be a stressful time. How long will it take? Where will we stay? What will we do with the pets when we are gone? All these and so many more considerations have to be taken into account. I suppose this is why “staycations” have become so popular. It’s just easier to stay home. Here, Paul lays out his current travel plans. He notes his longing to see them and to have help on his journey. Paul does not let the difficulties of the road hinder his mission of serving God. Likewise, our desires to serve God may be hindered if we are not willing to accept gifts from others as Paul did. Christ empowered Paul’s mission work and gave it the fullness of His blessing. He also gives us joy, refreshment, and peace as well. Thanks be to God for spiritual blessings of peace and joy, as well as for the encouragement given to us by our brothers and sisters in Christ. May we praise God also for the material blessings He has entrusted to us. May He guide us to use them wisely and to share with those in need.
